Deborah has built up a wide-ranging list of credits, most notably playing the role of Mariam an Afghan refugee in the world premiere of The Container by Clare Bayley. This site specific play staged inside an articulated lorry explores the world of people smuggling. It won an Edinburgh Festival Fringe First award, the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award and was nominated for Best Ensemble by The Stage. As part of The Container’s original cast Deborah toured with Creative Partnerships and the Billboard Project around the Thames Gateway area.
Her other favourite roles include Harriet Smith in Jane Austen's Emma with Traffic of the Stage, Nastya in Gorky's The Lower Depths and Chris in Tamsin Oglesby's My Best Friend.
Born in London, Deborah is of mixed Iraqi/Indian Jewish parentage. Before training at Drama Studio London, she graduated from Liverpool University with a degree in English Language and Literature. She also works for Hampstead Theatre's education department and as an English tutor.
